I am a big fan of the toki. I like the streamlined look and the simple style. These attributes combined with the comfort of a zoom sole is a win win. Unfortunately using suede for the upper construction makes the shoe feel bulky and your feet get sweaty. So, it would be five stars if the upper was made of canvas, hemp, bamboo, or perforated leather.
When the word 'hybrid' is thrown around, images of the reviled AJF fusions come to mind. The concensus among fans is that hybrids are a step down from the parent shoe(s).
The Zoom Toki, a vulcanized soled version of the relatively unpopular Sabaku, is an incredibly classy shoe. This particular colorway is subtle, 'grown-up', with just enough appeal for a nice casual dinner or a weekend at church. This suede-clad mid also features a zoom air unit directly embedded underneath the insole.
