Nike Air Max 1 - 30th Anniversary Video

In 1987 Nike presented a revolutionary visual representation of their "Air" technology to the world when they debuted the Air Max 1. Created by Marion Frank Rudy, an independent inventor contracted by Nike, the technical name of this footwear innovation was "pressurized gas encapsulated in polyurethane." Although "Air" was first implemented into a sneaker in 1979 (with the Nike Tailwind), it didn't really take off until Tinker Hatfield decided the show the technology with a visible window. The Air Max 1 was born, and the rest is history. Watch our video and celebrate 30 years of Air with old and new Air Max 1 models. Plus, get ready for Air Max Day, March 26, with a fresh new pair of men's or women's Air Max sneakers.
