The Nike Cortez originally released in 1972 and was created by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman. They were designed to be lighter and offer more cushioning than other running shoes that were currently on the market at that time. The Nike Cortez was an instant success, and 45 years later still remain an absolute must have. Although they have been created in nearly every colorway and material possible, you would be hard pressed to find a rendition more sought-after than the "Forrest Gump" model. Worn by Tom hanks in the popular 1994 film as his slighty slow-witted character ran across America, they feature a white leather upper, blue and red accents, and classic herringbone pattern on the outsole. The latest re-release of this movie & footwear legend will be available in a women's sizes soon.
