Air Jordan IX Retro
The Air Jordan IX made its debut in 1993, the same year Michael Jordan announced he was stepping away from basketball in order to pursue a career in baseball. Designed by Tinker Hatfied, the AJIX represented the globalization of the Air Jordan brand. They are crafted with a leather upper, feature an inner bootie, "one pull" lacing system, and an embroidered "23" on the heel. To play off the globalization theme, they also feature several words on the outsole in languages from around the world that embody the spirit of Jordan. (Side note: The Air Jordan IX is the model that was chosen to be sculpted on Jordan's popular "Jumpman" statue in front of the United Center.) Look for this classic dropping in their original colorway soon.
