Every couple of years Nike pays tribute to the Mexican holiday celebration (Dia de los Muertos) which takes place every year in November. When you hear the word Nike followed by day of the dead, most sneaker heads will immediately think of the much sought after Nike SB Dunk version, but a new pack is here it is sure to share in the success of the original. The Nike dunk high (Day of the Dead) sports a black leather upper and mid-sole with large sections of purple skull-n-bone graphics covering the overlay. As if that wasn’t enough, these kicks also feature a poison green swoosh and lining with some bright orange found on the tongue label and all over the contrast stitching on the upper. As an added addition, the insole is also graced by a stylized skeleton illustration that fits right in with the spooky aesthetic of the pack.
One of Nike’s most successful basketball campaigns to date with their MVPuppets commercials that featured Lebron James and Kobe Bryant as well as Lil Dez. In celebration of Kobe Bryant’s fourth NBA championship Lil Dez has dedicated a sport red Big Nike high dunk to the occasion. These kicks feature 100% red synthetic base with purple inner lining and a white mid sole. The sneaker comes full of cool customized accents. From the “Lil Dez” embossing on the heel to the “congrats Kobe” written in script font on the collar of both shoes, as well as having one of Lil Dez’s lines in the insoles reading “Kobe do you have any new shoes, can I see your shoes?” complete with Lil Dez graphics located on the tongue tags. The big Nike high (lil dez edition) are simple, yet creative and definitely has Lil Dez personality written all over them.
The Big Nike Low is back, and Nike presents it very well in the Big Nike Low “Katakana” Pack. This pack includes three Big Nike Low models; all of them sport a clean look and a distinct colorway. They feature a combination of leather, mesh and nylon. The two-tone colorways available include, Black/White, Orange/White, and Blue/White. But what really add personality to this pack are the Katakana characters, which replace “NIKE” on the heel and tongue. Sneaker forums agree that it’s simple and effective.
