The "PF" in "PF Flyers" stands for Posture Foundation and was established in 1933. The Posture Foundation jumped onto the scene with an innovative insole designed to evenly distribute weight, reducing leg strain. It was a hit. In the 30's and 40's PF Flyers successfully manufactured sneakers along with oxfords, boots and heels. In the 50's when sport sneakers were gaining in popularity, PF Flyers engineered the first ever collaboration between a sneaker company and a pro athlete. The athlete was basketball legend Bob Cousy from the Boston Celtics. They teamed up and created several designs that were successful, and many other companies and athletes quickly followed suit.
