Nike Air Max 1 Premium (Crepe)
The Nike Air Max 1, which made its debut in 1987, is known for being the first Nike model to reveal Nike's Air Max technology. Developed by an independent inventor (who was originally turned down by Adidas), Air Max technology provides superior cushioning and impact absorption, which is critical for runners. The Air Max 1 was also designed with a nylon/synthetic upper for lockdown support and excellent ventilation.
Although using crepe soles on a Nike Air Max 1 is not new, most sneakerheads would agree, it's always welcomed. The last time we saw an Air Max 1 crepe creation was in 2004, and it was part of the "Hemp Pack" (one of the most sought-after sneakers of that year). This year, Nike not only used crepe on the soles, but they paid attention to the details everywhere else on this Nike Air Max 1 Premium model. Currently available in Sail or Black colorways (with a Dark Cinder release coming later this year), they feature a tonal upper that is constructed with a combination of leather and canvas. Then, Nike added pony hair to the Swoosh. With a simple and classy look, they can fill the role in dressier settings. Many are even comparing them to the Clarks Wallabee.
