Nike Air BW Gen II (South Africa Edition)
New developments and innovations never cease at the Nike laboratory, and the Nike Air BW Gen II is a perfect example of that work. Featuring Nike's new three-layer upper "Torch," developed to minimize the use of leather and create a more breathable, moisture-wicking lightweight sneaker, they have transformed the Nike Air Classic BW into a top-performing sneaker for the modern age. And, they look fresh too.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup is right around the corner, and as you may expect, Nike has been releasing footwear to coincide with the world's most watched sporting event. The World Cup-inspired "True Colors" pack's releases continue to trickle in at stateside accounts. This Nike Air BW Gen II retro running shoe was designed by South African artist Kronk as a tribute to his homeland and the host country of the upcoming games. The artist's influence on these was limited, but can be seen in the custom lettering on the tongue. Green lettering also appears on the heel. For this retro running shoe, Nike coupled its Torch technology while the remainder of the shoe is completely white. Torch, mesh and suede are all used, and a bit of grey can be seen on the midsole. "This shoe is fantastic! Feel like they were made for my feet. I walk a lot, and have problem feet, high arch, thin, bony foot, no shock absorbers of my own. This shoe takes care of it all. I'll probably get another pair."
