Converse in Film

The 1995 comedy/horror movie, "Ice Cream Man," was sponsored in part by the Converse shoe company. Many characters wear Converse shoes, especially the classic Chuck Taylor All-Stars. There is also an extraordinary number of shots of shoes throughout the entire film. (Unconfirmed)

In the 1990 film Dances With Wolves, starring Kevin Costner, one of the young boys riding a horse when the Sioux and Dunbar leave for the buffalo hunt is wearing a pair of low-cut black converse Allstar sneakers. You can see it as they are riding away from the camera. (Rumor)

In the beginning of the film, 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), where we see the ape-men, it looks as if they are wearing Converse All-Star type gym shoes that have been painted to look like feet perhaps due to the rocky terrain. (Rumor)

Will Smith in the movie, "I, Robot," plays a technophobic detective investigating a murder of a scientist. Smith's character, Spooner, opens a fresh pair of black, high-top leather Converse which in the futuristic setting of this movie are obviously a rare collector's item. (Confirmed Sighting)
