Creative Recreation was founded in Orange County, California in 2002. Like many new companies, they started because their founders saw a void in the market and wanted to fill it. In this case, the footwear market was clearly divided into two segments: dress shoes that could be worn with formal attire and sneakers you would lace up for casual/athletic use. There were no options that were dressy and comfortable. Plus, the collection also had to appeal to the young and fashionable. So, with a sound-minded entrepreneurial spirit driving them, two friends who were already enjoying success in footwear industry, Ricardo Confinco and Robert Nand, created a new segment. And, it was an instant hit.
The Creative Recreation collection consisted of "crossbreed" shoes/sneakers that were comfortable, fashionable, and still had the materialization of a dress shoe. They were a statement on modern style, and could fit many roles. This was never more evident than with the company's breakout model, the Cesario. With clean lines and a signature strap, the Cesario is the model that first linked people to Creative Recreation. Their success catapulted when many stylish celebrities were photographed while sportin' the Cesario, and they have been made in just about every color, pattern, and material imaginable.
Today, Creative Recreation is still evolving their hard-to-define brand and pushing footwear boundaries. Their current collection utilizes camo, premium leather, zippers, suede, metallic accents, tweed, D-rings, and more. And, you can still pair up their collection with slacks for dressier occasions or with a pair of jeans, either way; they will never miss a beat.
