First released in 1972, the Nike Blazer was a basketball shoe worn and represented by George 'Iceman' Gervin of the San Antonio Spur during the 70's. In terms of basketball shoes, the Nike Blazer is low technology. The fusing of the upper to the outsole required the shoes to be baked at a high temperature in an autoclave which melted the upper to the midsole. Blazers have been produced in leather, suede, canvas, and tweed editions, and 2001 Nike collaborated with the Stüssey streetwear label to produce two Nike Blazer colorways. This street them was continued in 2003 with the work of graffiti artist Futura and the Futura Blazers were released in a limited quantity of only 1,000 as part of the Nike Artist series.
