Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers are an American original. Converse created the first basketball shoe - the grandfather of all athletic shoes to follow. In 1923, Chuck taylor, an all-star professional basketball player from Akron, worked with Converse to imporve their shoes and the game of basketball. For the rest of his life, Chuck Taylor served as the Ambassador of Basketball for Converse, traveling across America to inspire youth, coach basketball clinics, and spread his love for the game and Converse shoes. Converse may have disappeared completely if not for the saving grace of Nike who bought the failing company in 2003 and put their innovative designers to work. These classics are the same great sneakers with the most basic technology, but are available wild new colors, styles, and materials.
